Tidal is in charge of ex-customers $ 19.99 for any reason ,

Tidal, streaming Jay Z music service, was hit some consumers with false accusations in the past 24 hours. I know because I am one of them - and I canceled Tidal there several months. This morning I noticed a charge $ 19.99 on my credit card, which is how lossless / hi-fi subscription cost the company per month. Hours later, Tidal sent along an apologetic email and let me know that the money would be paid back in a few days.

Tidal also informed me that I would be good at three months free premium Tidal after the mixup. Tidal Premium, if you're not familiar, is basically direct response of the society to Spotify Premium. Both are $ 9.99 each month.

has not been essentially closed my account? No action or authorization from me, Tidal reactivated my name inactive user. I'm not particularly happy with this idea. Here is the email :.

Dear

Sorry to inform you that, due to an error, you were charged $ 19.99 for a subscription TIDE

We we apologize for the inconvenience, and have already paid the amount to your account. However, it may take 2-5 business days to appear on your credit card statement.

In addition to full reimbursement, we have also given free access to TIDE premium for the next three months in compensation. Your account is now TIDE, and you can login with your existing user name ________@gmail.com and password.

Again, we apologize for this and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks

Why not pay me for the mistake and call it even? I canceled Tidal for a reason, after all. And before the company corrected other error, it seemed Tidal would charge customers for a subscription after three months increased. Here's what the settings section looked like when I logged in to the service:

Tidal Hi-Fi

I have reached out to the public relations agency of Tidal for details on exactly how many customers were affected by this screwup. A quick glance on Twitter suggests very few people saw the false load. Mistakes happen, but this "gift" really rubs me the wrong way. It almost seems like a deliberate ploy to reel before everyone who tried Tidal and ultimately bailed to Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play Music, or another streaming option. I would have preferred a free month of lossless option, anyway. Is it true selling point of Tidal

Update 18th January 1:35 p.m. ET : Shortly after this article was published, Tidal updated language on the subscription page stating that no one will be charged after accession three months coming to an end. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that the plan was all along and I - and others - saw was an honest mistake.
